Longford Leader
By Liam Cosgrove
Four businesses in Co Longford are this week vying for top honours at the Co Longford County Enterprise Business Awards tomorrow (Thursday).
….
To add to the diverse blend of small and medium sized firms battling it out for the county’s top enterprise award, it comes as little surprise to see the name of Shasta Ltd included in the line up.
A highly innovative and energetic company based in Granard, Co Longford, its ambitious owner Ann Marie Durkin has carved out quite a reputation for herself and her enterprise with the adoption of the world’s first pre-sterilised baby soother and more recent portable baby bottle steriliser.
Sponsored by the County and City Enterprise Boards, it is the only competition of its type geared specifically for the micro-enterprise sector.
It is hosted on an annual basis to acknowledge the achievements of small enterprise and their valuable contribution to the local economy.
All four short listed businesses have been adjudicated by an external team of judges who will in turn assess entries in accordance to marketing strengths, financial strength, innovation, use of technology, entrepreneurial skills and their business plan.
The winners will be announced at a lunch taking place tomorrow, Thursday at Longford’s Viewmount House Restaurant.
The overall winner will advance to the regional final where 8 finalists will be chosen by an independent panel of adjudicators to go forward to the National Enterprise Awards Final, scheduled to take place in November
