Life is a little busy for modern parents, but now there’s a product to make their life a little easier. The pre-sterilised soother, invented by a Longford mum, is believed to be the first of its kind in the world. The Steri-Soother™, launched yesterday, comes sealed and bacteria-free, saving the hassle that may come with putting it in boiling water for a few minutes.
Product inventor and mother-of-two Ann Marie Durkin said it is ideal for an overnight hospital bag before baby arrives and is an ideal time-saver to have if you’re bringing your baby out and about.
‘The idea came to me when I was in hospital having my second child — there was so much work involved with a new baby i just thought a ready-sterilised soother would make my life less stressful.’
Once the soother is used it must be treated like other soothers on the marked and be sterilised before all subsequent uses.
The soother is made of silicone, and promises to be orthodontic-friendly and taste and odour-free.
It contains large venitlation holes in the plastic outer ring to avoid skin irritation and allwo air to pass freely into the baby’s mouth if the soother should become lodged. The product is 100% Irish and is available ion all sizes up to 3 months in most pharmacies nationwide, for €5.49.
