Steri Ova featured on ‘Higher Ground’

An innovative new baby product – the world’s first portable baby bottle sterilizer, Steri Ova – was featured on this week’s episode of RTE’s ‘Higher Ground’ series.

The participants on the show — eight new businessses from around the country — are mentored by Paul Mc Carthy, rural business specialist, Teagasc Athenry and Peter Young, Farmers Journal.

The mentors identify areas for help and then provide practical support and encouragement and focus in those areas – this can be anything from developing new product ideas, working in partnership, distribution, finance, launching the business, sales and marketing to simply getting organised.

Ann Marie Durkin who hails from Granard near Mullingar has been an entrepreneur for over three years and patented the Steri Ova last year.

The programme highlighted how she found a trade fair for nursery products in the UK highly beneficial as she got to meet distributors from various countries and McCarthy and Young advised her on the best way to deal with potential investors to bring her business to the next level.

She got to meet Anne Heraty, founder of CPL, who spoke to her on the importance of learning how to delegate and entrepreneur Jerry Kennelly shared his insights on the importance of having full control of your business as well as speed to market. He said Ann Marie had one of the traits needed to be a successful entrepreneur – impatience and a sense of urgency.
